CONSULTATION

Herbalism and Ayurveda consultations in Dartington, Devon and online

WHAT TO EXPECT:

A herbal medicine consultation is a talking session typically lasting 60-75 mins, where the herbalist discusses your medical history with you, giving you the opportunity to highlight any areas you feel are important.

You will also be asked general questions relating to all aspects of your health.

Marie is trained in both herbal medicine and Ayurveda, and draws upon and combines these different approaches as required.

Clinical examination techniques such as the manual taking of blood pressure and techniques such as abdominal or chest exam are including in the consultation if required, and Marie often utilises Ayurvedic pulse and tongue diagnosis skills.

Herbal Tea & Honey

Herbal medicine is prescribed following the consultation, and this may come in the form of a tincture, a packet of dried herbs to brew as a tea, a blend of powdered herbs or some herbal capsules. External preparations such as creams may also be made to order.

Herbs are prepared on-site in Marie’s consultation room and dispensary in Dartington. Prescriptions can often be made up immediately following the consultation.

On occasion, some research may need to take place before herbs are available, in which case the herbs can be collected on another day, or can be sent through the post.

DIAGNOSTIC TESTS

Blood or saliva tests, stool tests or hair sample analysis may be recommended as part of your treatment plan.

These are organised by Marie using the services of private labs. Many samples can be collected at home using test kits, but sometimes blood samples need to be taken using a phlebotomist. In these cases, highly professional external phlebotomy services are utilised. Marie will guide you through this process completely from start to finish, and then will analyse your blood results as part of your follow-up consultation.
