About Marie

Hi I’m Marie Oxley MNIMH.

I am a Medical Herbalist, Ayurvedic Therapist and a Massage and Reiki Practitioner and I have been running a busy therapeutic practice in Totnes for 12 years. In the summer of 2024 I moved my practice to a beautiful new consultation and treatment room on the Dartington Estate.

I am passionate about creating healing spaces using the wisdom of plants, accessing both traditional knowledge and modern scientific research.

I began by training in Ayurvedic Therapies and Ayurvedic Diet & Lifestyle, and then progressed to complete an advanced course in Ayurvedic Herbalism with Sarah Williams MNIMH in 2016, which deepened my knowledge of herbs and enhanced my ability to work with them from the Ayurvedic perspective. I completed 4.5 years of professional medical herbalism training with Heartwood Education in 2024 and became a full member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists.

I continue to offer massage alongside my herbal medicine work, and I utilise a blend of all the techniques I have learned in the many massage courses I have completed since I first qualified in Ayurvedic massage in 2013. I studied Sports Massage Therapy up to ITEC Level 4 at the London School of Massage. This enabled me me to use some of the most up to date sports massage techniques within the Ayurvedic framework, and the two approaches work beautifully together. I completed further training there to qualify as an Advanced Therapeutic Massage Therapist and also worked at the London School of Massage for a year as a tutor, teaching Ayurveda Massage Therapy and Indian Head Massage.

I am a master level practitioner in Reiki, and I either offer this as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with other treatments.

I previously trained for 3 years as a yoga teacher with Sheila Coombes in Totnes, and although I am not currently offering yoga therapy sessions in my practice, this training greatly informs my massage work, and my ability to help help ease or resolve a problem in the body or mind. I work with many regular clients, to provide herbal medicine or a relaxing massage, to ease a specific physical problem, to help reduce stress, or I work out a more detailed therapy plan to treat more persistant health complaints.
